Blogging With Students

I believe that before a student starts blogging a teacher should explain why blogging is important and how blogging should be used properly. First the teacher should show the students some good examples of blogs. The teacher should mention that blog posts are usually short. The teacher should recommend  students to post on other peoples blogs before they make their own. Teachers should also show students how to stay safe when they are on the internet. First of all the teacher should send a contract home to the student's parents explaining how their child should act when using their blog. This contract should contain information on how students can stay safe while using the internet. Students should never give out personal information and always be aware of dangerous websites.Teachers should inform their students that they will monitor each students blog. I might use a blog in my classroom to help me communicate better with my students and their parents. I would make a blog where I would post homework, notes, exam dates, and grades. I would encourage students to write posts on my blog. They could ask me questions if they do not understand a topic discussed in class, or write posts about what they learned in class that day.
